The Orizuru Chair

Formica Student Innovation Competition Finalist

“New Maximalism”

Competition Information and results

Orizuru, or paper crane, is a traditional symbol rooted in Japanese origami embodying hope, honor, and good fortune. Inspired by the art practiced in Japanese, and Chinese cultures, the Orizuru Chair is made with an emphasis on fusing utility with inventive aesthetic for any setting, whether commercial or residential, to embrace the new vision of maximalism.

A gallery space that portrays the unique tale of life may be created thanks to maximalism. Consequently, vivid and striking colors become essential elements in every tale. Determining the visual direction of my design was a cinch, thanks to the Formica Surface Set Collection and the commercial laminate options. The expressive style of the Orizuru Chair showcases the excellency and variety of the Formica brand.
